राशि
Up to Rs 20,00,000 per innovator/startup at a PRAYAS Centre (PC); up to Rs 40,00,000 at an Advance PRAYAS Centre (APC) for deep-tech / advanced prototypes (2.0). Under 1.0 (2016-2022 guidelines): up to Rs 10,00,000. Exact quantum fixed by the centre's PRAYAS Local Monitoring Committee / PMC. Centre-level: DST provides up to Rs 2 crore p.a. per PC and Rs 4 crore p.a. per APC for grants, plus one-time capital up to Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 30 lakh p.a. operational support.

DST's NIDHI-PRAYAS gives a one-time, equity-free prototyping grant of up to Rs 20 lakh (PC) or Rs 40 lakh (APC) through selected incubators - the nearest to Kannauj being FIRST/SIIC IIT Kanpur - to Indian innovators aged 18+ or startups under five years old to build a physical technology prototype within 15 months.

पात्रता

  • Individual innovator (no registered startup yet)
  • Early-stage startup (private limited/LLP etc.) incorporated in India <= 5 years old, >= 51% Indian-citizen equity, annual turnover <= Rs 1 crore in every FY since incorporation (2.0); under 1.0: <= 7 years old, turnover <= Rs 25 lakh
  • Host side: not-for-profit incubators (Section-8 company / Society) with >= 3 yrs (PC) or >= 5 yrs (APC) track record apply to DST to become PRAYAS Centres; for-profit incubators excluded
आयु
Applicant / each co-founder must be at least 18 years on the date of application; proof of age and Indian citizenship (passport, Aadhaar or Voter ID) required. No upper age limit.

Open to all; 2.0 guidelines say preference may be given to women innovators, young innovators, deep-tech innovators/researchers, innovators with patents, bootstrapped/co-invested applicants and those with a clear commercialisation roadmap. No caste/category reservation.

Startup annual turnover must not exceed Rs 1 crore in any FY since incorporation (2.0). Applicants who have cumulatively received more than Rs 40 lakh in government grant funding are ineligible. Total PRAYAS support per innovation (1.0 + 2.0) capped at Rs 40 lakh. One innovator/startup may avail PRAYAS 2.0 only once.

not applicable / unclear - NIDHI-PRAYAS has no notified trade or product list. Eligibility is stage- and nature-based: the prototype must be a 'tangible, physical product grounded in science or technology' at pre-MVP stage. A perfumery product per se (a new attar blend) is not a technology prototype, but a novel distillation/deg-bhapka, extraction, sensor, packaging or quality-testing device for attar would fit. Explicit exclusions are pure software, e-commerce, service and app-based solutions. APC priority sectors (energy, climate, quantum, robotics, AI hardware, medical devices, digital agriculture, defence) do not name perfumery.

Prototype must be completable within 15 months of first tranche (2.0; 18 months under 1.0). Products past MVP stage ineligible. Applicant must own or hold licence to underlying IP. Employees/full-time students need an NOC from employer/institution confirming IP vests with innovator. Cannot hold NIDHI-EIR concurrently for same idea. Full-time engagement expected. Applicants who received PRAYAS 1.0 may apply to 2.0 only at an APC (up to Rs 40 lakh total). Funds go to the lead innovator's account; IP vests with innovator/startup; host centre may not demand equity/IP as precondition.

1) Not a Kannauj/attar-sector scheme: no trade list, no district office; access is only via a DST-designated PRAYAS Centre and subject to that centre's call cycle (FIRST/SIIC IIT Kanpur 1.0 window is closed; 2.0 centres not yet notified as of Sep 2026). 2) Only physical, science/technology prototypes at pre-MVP stage qualify - a new fragrance formulation, brand, marketplace, app, e-commerce or service model is explicitly excluded ("Pure Software development, e-Commerce, Service solutions, App based solutions"). 3) Products that have crossed MVP/prototype stage are ineligible. 4) Startups > 5 years old or with turnover > Rs 1 crore in any FY are out; individuals must be 18+ Indian citizens. 5) One-time only per innovator; lifetime PRAYAS cap Rs 40 lakh; > Rs 40 lakh cumulative government grants disqualifies; no parallel NIDHI-EIR support. 6) Grant cannot be used for loan repayment, incubator usage charges, rent/sheds/infrastructure, or as a stop-gap income; sustenance allowance limited to 20%. 7) Unutilised funds must be refunded on incomplete projects; PLMC can discontinue support. 8) The widely quoted 'Rs 10 lakh' figure is the superseded 1.0 amount - 2.0 (March 2026) raised it to

No PRAYAS Centre exists in Kannauj district; none of DIC Kannauj, KVIC/UPKVIB, banks, FFDC, CSC or UPSIDA has any role. Amended/superseded in 2026: DST issued NIDHI PRAYAS 2.0 Program Guidelines (March 2026), which replace the PRAYAS 1.0 framework (Rs 10 lakh grant, 18-month term, Rs 1.2/2.2 crore per centre) with a two-tier PC (up to Rs 20 lakh per innovator) / APC (up to Rs 40 lakh) structure, 15-month project term, and new centre eligibility.
